EQUILIBRIUM’s Embodied Carbon Action Plan

Posted on 02.01.25

In Spring 2024, EQUILIBRIUM proudly made our Embodied Carbon Action Plan public through the SE 2050 website, marking another key milestone in our long-standing dedication to sustainable design. You can view our commitment here.

In addition to being a full-service structural engineering firm, EQUILIBRIUM is also recognized for our leadership in sustainable construction. Our team includes two WbLCA-certified professionals, enabling us to provide Whole Building Life Cycle Assessments (WBLCAs)—either as part of a larger project or as a standalone service.

Sustainability has been at the heart of our practice since the beginning. We are proud signatories of both Canadian Engineers Declare and the SE 2050 Commitment, and have played a key role in delivering high-performance projects across Canada. We have contributed to the design of numerous LEED projects and were first to introduce “Passivhaus” design services in Canada in 2008 with the award-winning Lost Lake Passive House in Whistler, BC.

With our recent expansion into professional LCA and embodied carbon assessment services, EQUILIBRIUM continues to support design teams with data-driven insights—ensuring environmental performance is embedded in every structural decision.
