Edenn
EDENN is a sculptural, bioclimatic 8-storey office development replacing the former Défense 2 building at the entrance to the Groues sector in Nanterre. Positioned adjacent to the Nanterre-La Folie RER E station, the building bridges urban and public realms with a transparent base and articulated terraces that foster city-to-space continuity.
The project comprises ~30 000 m² of primarily office space, with ground-level retail and public-oriented services. The lower levels line the street with retail, hospitality functions, and wellness facilities, while typical upper floors provide flexible office plateaus. Outdoor terraces and loggias are distributed across elevations, enhancing daylighting and bioclimatic performance.
EDENN’s structure is a hybrid mix of glulam post and beam and CLT and structural steel and concrete elements where required. EQUILIBRIUM held the timber and structural steel scope for the superstructure.
The structural strategy supports multiple high-level certifications targeted for the project, including HQE Excellent, BREEAM Excellent, LEED Platinum, BBCA, R2S (3 stars), E+C- (E3C2) and BiodiverCity — underlining the low-carbon, health, and biodiversity ambitions embedded in the design.
