We are looking for a talented and ambitious structural engineer with 10+ years of experience to join our growing team. Specifically, we are seeking a candidate with a strong technical understanding in building design across all major materials, and the ability and desire to actively engage in the technical and quality control aspects of our projects. REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Education:

– Bachelor’s Degree from a Civil/Structural Engineering program required. Master’s degree preferred.

Requirements:

– Located in Vancouver or willing to relocate. Applicants located in or willing to relocate to Atlanta, GA will also be considered.
– Valid work status in Canada.
– Registration with EGBC and/or licensed engineer in the US (PE/SE).
– Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in a similar role.
– Knowledge of and experience with US codes is an asset.
– Interest in Mass Timber. Mass Timber experience is a bonus.
– Interest in embodied carbon and minimizing the climate impact of structural design.
– Seismic analysis and design experience an asset.
– Experience with structural analysis software such as RFEM, RSTAB, ETABS, SAFE, GSA, Tedds, RAM etc. Familiarity with Bluebeam.
– Sound knowledge of timber, steel, concrete, and hybrid construction.

We are looking for a talented and ambitious Technician / Technologist with 2+ years of experience to join drafting and BIM department at our Vancouver office.

WHAT YOU’LL GET UP TO

– Provide drafting and BIM support for our team across all offices.
– Create and oversee structural BIM models (LOD 300+) and construction documents for a variety of building types using Revit/AutoCAD.
– Develop structural engineer’s concepts and sketches into accurate models and drawings, with a clear understanding of how to organize drawing sets in compliance with our drawing standards.
– Participate in coordination with the consultant team, Client, and other project stakeholders to ensure delivery of fully coordinated models and documents.
– Maintain clean and organized Revit and AutoCAD files, ensuring ease of navigate and ability to access and modify information.
– Conduct quality reviews and lead / support the development of project models and drawings and models to ensure quality of work produced for the team.
– Troubleshoot problems that arise within the rapidly changing digital coordination environment.
– Act as a role model and mentor for other team members, demonstrating alignment with firm values and professional standards as well as overseeing the work of the rest of the drafting department.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Education:

– Diploma or Certificate in Civil/Structural drafting or technology from an accredited University or Technical College.

Requirements:

– Located in Vancouver or willing to relocate.
– Valid work status in Canada.
– Min 2 years of experience producing structural drawings, specifically building designs.
– Min 2 years Revit experience on structural projects (modeling, drawing development, BIM, family creation inclusive)

Celebrating Tom Place’s Promotion at EQUILIBRIUM

We are pleased to announce the recent promotion of Tom Place to Associate Engineer at EQUILIBRIUM.

Since joining the team at the beginning of 2022, Tom has worked on some of our most notable projects including Bakers Place in Maddison, WI, Stz’uminus Elementary School and Saskatoon Public Library in Canada, and El Pinar in Uruguay.

As Sustainability Lead at EQUILIBRIUM, Tom is an integral part of our firm’s continued efforts to reduce the carbon in the built environment. He reinforces our open culture of knowledge sharing, both within our team and through external speaking engagements such as Buildex 2023 and 2024. He is also an active volunteer at BC’s Carbon Leadership Forum and has recently become qualified in LCA assessment through the Athena Institute.
